Beginning Tuesday October 18th, 2011
The 6 Tissue States that herbalists began to use around the late 19th century were configured from several Ancient systems of herbal applications combined with new ideas. We do the same today, taking old theories and mixing them with new techniques.
This class combines the use of the 6 Tissue States with organ system deficiency and excess, and patterns of dysfunction and disease. It illustrates how taste/chemical constituents and using plants that are stimulating and relaxing bring balance to the whole, while also applying the same theories to acute, not just chronic, illness.

Tissue states
The presentation of the tissue is a message. In each of the following classes, we will look at the expression of each state, and how the taste and energetics of an herb relates. We will also weave in organ system deficiency and excess, disease and dysfunction. Each class will have homework. Examples of assignments: Reading, writing reports and articles, medicine making, sample formulating and tasting.
Class 3:
Heat/Excitation with cooling sour
Class 4:
Wind/Constriction with the taste acrid bitter
Class 5:
Cold/Depression with acrid, pungent, sour, fragrant bitters, menthol herbs/stimulant, carminative, antiseptic.

Class 9:
Formulation and tissue states combined with organ system deficiency and excess.
Class 10:

Class 12:
Reports given.
Part 2: Formulation and client assessment. We will walk through a consultation, including how to prioritize when working with a complex case. Formulation will focus on tissue states combined with organ system deficiency and excess.
Week off for consultations.
Class 13 Group presentations of client consultations and recommendations.
